From the lobby to the 145 guestrooms and suites, the recently refurbished Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro is ready to welcome guests after undergoing a $20 million, top-to-bottom renovation.

Located in one of the world’s most vibrant cities, and considered to be the coolest star-spotting hotel in Rio, Copacabana Palace has been a landmark for almost 90 years. Renovations were not only made to the lobby, which was extended by 80 percent allowing guests to experience a more relaxed and streamlined check-in process, but also to the Cipriani restaurant; to coincide with the launch of the restaurant’s new look, Chef Nicola Finamore created a new menu serving classics from the restaurant’s namesake in Venice, and innovative Italian cuisine.

In addition, the lobby’s marble staircase has been widened, and the original ceiling, which had been hidden under plaster, was rediscovered during the renovation and restored to its originality. All rooms and suites in the main building of the hotel have been re-designed with new fabrics and furniture, while the majority of bathrooms were expanded and underwent complete structural redesign with porcelain enamel bathtubs that complement separate showers and marble counter tops with dual basins.

Copacabana Palace has also introduced two new boutiques named 1923 and Villa Copa, both selling a variety of stylish garb including swimwear and accessories for men and women. A Deluxe Beach View Room at Copacabana Palace starts from $740 per room, per night.
