Set in the heart of London’s South Kensington neighborhood, The Ampersand Hotel, part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection, is a new London experience with individually styled bedrooms and balconied suites, splashes of contemporary art and a ground floor patisserie serving artisanal coffee and Champagne. Located on the doorstep of Hyde Park and Knightsbridge, at The Ampersand, classic English heritage meets a contemporary interior with restored original Victorian features visible in all areas, from the impressive high ceilings to the hauntingly beautiful gargoyles. The Ampersand Hotel’s unique concept is inspired by both the capital’s world-famous cultural district and the iconic ampersand symbol, to illustrate the hotel’s role in connecting its guests to the best of South Kensington.
Bedrooms, Suites & Guest Areas
Guests enter a kaleidoscopic world with a design aesthetic inspired by the surrounding world-famous museums of Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert, as well as the Royal Albert Hall, all devoted to botany, music, geometry, ornithology and astronomy. These five themes are intricately incorporated throughout The Ampersand Hotel, from the 20-ft. staircase installation accented with goose feather wings to the bespoke upholstery featuring flowers and ferns. Individually designed guestrooms and public spaces, spread over seven floors, include five suites, all of which have their own balcony offering views of London’s iconic skyline.
The Drawing Rooms
Set on the ground floor of the hotel, The Drawing Rooms reflects Albertopolis, the cultural quarter of South Kensington, boasting a beautiful patisserie lounge where both hotel guests and local residents can enjoy artisanal, premium coffee complemented by sweet and savory pastries to be enjoyed in the romantic setting of over-sized armchairs and hand woven rugs. Alternatively they can embrace the glamour of South Kensington and sip on a glass of Champagne before dinner, chosen from a carefully selected Champagne menu.
The Underground Vault
The Ampersand Hotel’s lower ground floor is home to Apero, which offers a taste of the Mediterranean with cocktails inspired by the tradition of the aperitivo hour. Created using a collection of the finest boutique spirits, the cocktails are designed to complement the playful small plates inspired by modern Mediterranean.
